Cuento 2: El nabo gigante (The Giant Turnip)

Folklore en la cabaña (Folklore at the Cottage) is a collection of four story-based language learning guides. It can be used be used to supplement and enrich your current Spanish-language studies or as a Spanish-language curriculum on its own. Designed for (but not exclusive to) Charlotte Mason families, Folklore en la cabaña places oral storytelling at the center. All content revolves around a story's theme and vocabulary. Furthermore, model recordings made by native (or native-like) speakers are provided for each guide's repertoire of poem, hymn, verse, folksong, oral story, useful phrases, and calendar/weather songs.

You may start using Folklore en la cabaña at the beginning of any term (fall, winter, spring) as long as you begin with Cuento 1 and continue sequentially through Cuento 4. At that point, you can cycle back to Cuento 1 and complete the program at LEVEL 2 with those learners who completed the first cycle at LEVEl 1. This would provide 8 full terms of language learning.

All Cuentos include both LEVEL 1 and LEVEL 2 options. Separate versions do not need to be purchased for different ages or ability levels. This guide is intended to offer a family-style approach to language learning.

This is the second of four stories (cuentos) encompassed by Folklore en la cabaña . All story guides are 12-weeks in length and are sold individually.

Cuento 2 makes connections with concepts introduced in Cuento 1, giving learners the opportunity to build on pre-existing knowledge and skills. As with all Folklore en la cabaña guides, the weekly lessons are centered around story-telling with corresponding listening, speaking, reading, and writing tasks.

Your family will enjoy learning a new repertoire of content for the warm-up recitation (calendar work, scripture verse and poem recitation, a hymn and folksong, and useful phrases). Cuento 2 also introduces a visual alphabet alongside pronunciation practice and a Spanish-language recipe with visuals and audio to make vegetable soup.
